Basic Types of Feeders
Hopper
Feeders are well designed for feed mixes, sunflower seeds
and nuts that are small enough to flow through the opening at the bottom
as needed. These feeders are easy to fill and easy to clean. Different
sizes are available which hold varying amounts of food. For people who
don't have time to refill a bird feeder every day, one of the larger
hopper feeders may be a good choice. Although not completely weather
proof, hopper feeders keep the seeds cleaner than a platform feeder
and protects better against the elements.

Tray
or Platform Feeders are the simplest type of feeder that
you can get and in its most basic form consists of a single platform
or tray upon which you can place the bird food. There are many benefits
to this type of feeder. The platform feeder is the easiest to set up
and maintain and is a great feeder for someone just starting out with
this hobby. It is easily accessible and attracts many types of birds.
The downside of a platform feeder is that the bird food is exposed to
the weather. Also, oftentimes smaller birds are crowded out by the larger
birds on this type of feeder. Still, there are many positives to this
type of feeder which, depending on your requirements, may outweigh the
disadvantages. You can put any kind of seed in a tray except for small
Niger, lettuce, and grass seeds, which are prone to blow away or get
wasted. They are well suited for larger nuts, fruits and sunflower seeds.
Platform feeders are also good places to put out doughnuts and bread
crumbs.

Suet
Feeders are wire-mesh cages which hold suet or suet mixture.
Suet is a processed blend of hard animal fat and wild birdseeds. Beef
fat alone can be used or mixed with other fats or peanut butter. These
bird foods are the glue for other ingredients that can be mixed in.
Suet bird food can be offered all year with proper preparation techniques
and by placing suet bird feeders in the shade during warm weather. Bird
suet does not have to be protected from the elements like seed.
We offer the following

Window
Feeders are perfect for attracting small birds for close-up
viewing. Window feeders are usually suction-cupped to a window and attract
finches, sparrows, chickadees, and titmice. The birds stand in this
kind of feeder, so the food must be changed often. The good news is
that the feeder can be cleaned and food replaced from inside the house.
