Mixed
seeds will entice Doves, Carolina Wrens, Thrashers, Cardinals,
Sparrows, Juncos, Goldfinches, Woodpeckers, Titmice, Chickadees, Nuthatches,
White-throated Sparrows, White Crowned Sparrows, Jays and Purple Finches.
If you find that birds are not visiting your feeder within a few days
of setting it up, try sprinkling seeds on the ground nearby to make
the feeder more obvious.
In addition to suet,
peanuts, dried fruit, nuts, bread, berries and crackers will add a delicious
variety for your feathered friends. Providing a bird feeder allows them
to survive the bitter cold and food-poor season, and is a great act
of charity on your part, as well.
